Elemental Foundation exists for people who are starting to wonder when they get to enjoy it. Who want more than a holiday that needs recovering from. Who feel the pull of something slower, wilder, more real but haven't quite found what that looks like or how to access it.
This is that way in. Land protected together, space made for stillness, something that means more than a break and lasts longer than a week.
Why this matters
Two crises.

Rural land across southern Europe is being abandoned, sold off, or left to decline. Wild places that took centuries to form are disappearing within a generation. To development, to neglect, to the slow drift of people away from the land.
At the same time, people are burning out in record numbers. Disconnected from nature, from slowness, from anything that feels genuinely restorative. The two things are not separate. They are the same disconnection, expressed in two different ways.
The Elemental Foundation is a direct response to both. By buying land collectively and holding it in perpetuity through a community trust that no single person can sell or override, we protect wild terrain and create space for people to remember what they are actually part of.
This is not a pretty idea. It is a practical, lasting act of stewardship. For the land. For the people who need it. For the generations who come after.
Land lost to neglect and development
Across Andalucía, rural villages are emptying. Small farms are abandoned. Wild land is sold piecemeal or worse, forgotten. Once gone, it rarely comes back. Collective ownership is one of the few models proven to hold it.
The human cost of always on
Burnout, exhaustion, the sense that life is going too fast to actually live — these are not personal failings. They are the predictable result of a world that has forgotten how to stop. Nature is one of the most evidence-backed antidotes we have.
Stewardship changes people
There is a difference between visiting nature and caring for it. When you tend land — walk it, know it, help it recover — something shifts. You stop being a visitor and become part of something. That is what the Foundation offers.

We buy and protect property and land in Andalucía collectively, through a community trust structure. So it cannot be sold, developed, or lost. Wild terrain, tended with care, for generations to come.
Property that will stay useful and relevant for modern use yet retaining its character and rustic charm.

Simple places to breathe
Small properties a farmhouse here, a village house there, where members and supporters can come for a week at a time. Quiet, affordable, unhurried. Just you, the land, and the sky.
Self contained space - your own kitchen, bathroom, lounge area and bedroom. Along with group spaces and meeting places for when you want to have like minded company.

The Foundation is governed by the people who believe in it. No single owner, no profit motive. Every contribution: money, time, skill, goes into protecting land and sustaining the community.

Two and a half hours from the UK. Within ninety minutes of Almería or Murcia airport. And yet, a world apart from the noise.
Andalucía holds all four elements in its landscape — the volcanic earth, the ancient sea, the eagles in the mountain air, the warmth of a sun that genuinely reaches you. It is not a postcard. It is a place that changes people.
We are looking for land and properties within this region — starting with one, growing to several, each with its own character and surrounding wilderness. Connected enough to reach. Wild enough to matter.

Two ways to belong. Both matter equally.
Founder
Invest in the land itself
A contribution of £5,000 makes you a Founder. One of the small group of people whose investment secures the first land and properties. In return, you have a free week at the Foundation every year, forever. A voice in how it develops. And the knowledge that you helped make it real.
Land and property is not expensive here. As little as £50,000 could secure the first property.
£5,000 or more gives you a free annual week at the foundation forever.
Supporter
Invest what you can spare
Any amount, given freely, to help preserve stillness, sanctuary, and wild land for people who need it. Supporters receive updates from the land, connection to the wider community, and the chance to stay at the Foundation once it is open. Every pound goes directly into protecting something worth protecting.
Every user of the foundations stillness sanctuaries will be a member. Every member has to apply. This is how we ensure that only people who understand the value of nature and their impact on it spend time here.
Any amount - every contribution counts

No. This is more like National Trust membership. Elemental Foundation is about spending time in nature soaking up the peace and stillness.
The accomodation will be self catering, self contained but with the option to share a kitchen, lounge or outside space with other members staying.
The not for profit foundation owns the property so the responsibility of compliance with local rules, taxation and any maintenance rests with the Foundation not you. -
The Foundation’s focus is on the bond between nature and people and how when that is reconnected both benefit. The space is not open to everyone, it is reserved for members. Each member applies so that values can be established - both ways.
Costs of weeks stay is the same for all in all seasons. The cost is set to provide a buffer for ongoing maintenance but not to deliver huge profits. -

There is lots of scope to add other properties, facilities and services. For example a prestige away day space or houses to rent longer term.If you choose to become a founder you get to shape this future

The idea is that we look after the land. Keep drains clear, pick olives, plant grapevines. Keep track of poplulations of voles, Golden Eagles, Foxes etc.
Your contribution is valuable just in being part of the Foundation, if you would like to garden, pick,count etc that would be lovely but you don’t have to no. -
There will be details of walks, wellbeing and and meditations available free or at a discount for Foundation members.
It is unlikely that there will be a swimming pool but there may be a small dip pool to cool off. -
Founders have one week free and can book more at the going rate based on a fair useage policy.
Anticipated weekly cost is c£200 a week including WIfi, power, water and heating.
If you cannot use your week one year you can gift it to someone else, subject to them applying for membership. -
